The Baby is Home

We brought Shannon and baby Caroline home from the hospital today.  My husband Doug flew in from California, so we have a houseful.   I was going to fix a healthy dinner, but their friends came over to see the baby, so they ordered pizza and had a big baby party.  I was going to wait until everyone left so I could fix something for me to eat, but nobody was leaving and the pizza smelled so good and what was I to do?  Two pieces of vegetarian, thin crust pizza couldn’t be too bad could it?  Luckily for me, it really wasn’t.  It was a total of 360 calories, 12 g fat, 46 g carbs, and 16 g protein, and it tasted SO good!

After dinner we walked for about an hour and then my 115 lb, cross-country running, swim team coaching, super jock 21 year old daughter Daryn had me lift 5 lbs weights while she was lifting 15 lb ones.  My arms are already sore, but I guess its about time I started toning up.

  1. Hey Debbie,

My heart is so happy for your new grand-girl, for your being with daughters (nothing better!), and for finding something more interesting to write about than "boring old food."

I'm just commenting because I was just wondering if you actually wanted people reading your blog, if you liked comments, or if you just want to be left alone. I would understand a "yes" or a "no" to all of those questions. Just trying to get a handle on blogging my self, I have to admit it feels peculiar to be self-disclosing after a life time of cultivating a very private persona!

So -- all the best to you on this happy occasion. I don't pop in on you often, but today I was particularly needing to procrastinate after an unproductive morning wasted on a faculty meeting. Now it's hard to recapture the "go do it" mood I awakened with. Thanks for being such a great model for program you and Tim are doing. I knew I would find some inspiration here :-)

Oh - and my step daughter has also just started a blog (she's an accountant: http://ys-business.com/blog/category/general/), and I was exploring the concept of tribes with her. Sounds intriguing for NextFit, I think. Kary Rogney's model...

    Cheers,
    Linda
